Metro Institute provides online computer-based testing services in Colorado for the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA). CDA-contracted testing centers are located throughout the state.

All persons wanting to obtain a license with the Colorado Department of Agriculture must pass the general exam and one or more exams in the appropriate category(s). The basic steps to apply, schedule, and test are as follows:

Step 1. Apply with Colorado Department of Agriculture:
  1. IMPORTANT: You cannot schedule any exams until you first apply with the CDA:
Step 2. Return to this website to order and schedule your exam(s):
  1. IMPORTANT: You may log into this scheduling website with the same
    username/password you received when you applied in Step 1!
  2. Order your exams and make payment, as applicable.
  3. Schedule your exam(s) by selecting a testing center, and date and time to test.
Step 3. Receive notification from CDA / testing center:
  1. You will know your test results immediately after taking your exam(s).
  2. In addition your test results will be submitted to the Colorado Department of Agriculture. If you pass the required exams a license application will be provided with your exam results.
  3. If you do not pass the required exams, you will be advised of such and you may schedule to take or retake additional pesticide examinations at a later date.
  4. If you do not qualify for a license, you will be advised of such and you may schedule to take or retake
    additional pesticide examinations.
  • Note: A 24-hour notice is required to schedule (or reschedule) any exam. There is no charge to
    reschedule an exam within 24-hour notice.
  • Metro will not refund testing fees for scheduled exams without at least a 24-hour cancellation notice.
  • You may not take the same exam twice in the same day.
  • Exams vary in length - General examinations are allowed two hours / Category exams are allowed one hour - Please arrive at least 15 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment.
  • Don't forget: You must bring your government-issued picture ID to the testing site.
